I wish Charice Pempengco will perform in Las Vegas together with our very own Lani Misalucha who is also making her own name in the strip. David Foster and Friends concert will be held this May 23, 2008.

After a stranger posted one of her jaw-dropping TV performances on YouTube, Charice became an Internet singing sensation. Her videos have been viewed more than 13 million times online! Charice then landed a Swedish recording contract. In November 2007, she was invited to sing on Star King, one of Korea’s most popular television shows, where she brought down the house!

The young singer said that when she performed a song for Oprah, the host got teary eyed while she was seated in a corner with the rest of the audience. “Nung nag-perform po ako, nandun s’ya sa gilid so kinantihan ko po siya (Oprah), medyo naluha po siya. After ng performance ko, sinabi po niya sa akin na di TheBuzzpo siya makapaniwala na ganun kagaling ang Pinoy,” Charice beamed.

Charice also related that a day before the actual performance, she visited the Oprah studios where the staff told her to familiarize herself with the stage she’s going to perform on the next day. She could not help but jump up and down because she felt really psyched to see the host the next day. “Nung mag-perform po ako, first time rin po niya akong makita.” TheBuzzAfter her performance, Charice said that Oprah asked her who she was, where she came from and where she got her big voice despite her being petite.

Charice was a grand finalist in ABS-CBN’s kiddie singing talent search Little Big Star, a couple of years ago. She started to make waves in the international music scene when a clip of her singing in a Korean talent show became a huge hit on Youtube. Since then, she made appearances on various international TV talk-shows such as The Ellen Degeneres Show in the US and the Paul O’ Grady Show in the UK.

After making her mark with a performance on the Ellen DeGeneres show last December, she caught the attention of the producers of Oprah, who invited her back to the US last month to tape an episode airing this May. All this attention is something Charice is still getting used to. “After Ellen, yung mga tao sinasabihan nila ako na proud sila sa akin, naging proud sila na Filipino sila. Mas marami nang nakakilala sa akin dahil dun. Happy naman ako,” she shares. This summer brings her to the US once again as she goes to New York for another talk show appearance and to Los Angeles and Hawaii as a guest for Wowowee.

A fourth year high school home study student, Charice hopes to study a music related course in college. “Dati po pangarap kong kumuha talaga na Nursing, pero ngayon siyempre gusto ko yung course na mas magagamit ko as a singer,” she explains.

Paul O’Grady, the comic from Birkenhead, previously more famous for his female alter-ego Lily Savage, hosts the weekday teatime chat show which is a mixture of celebrity guests, comic stunts and pieces, as well as viewer competitions. Melanie Sykes is the main replacement if Paul is unwell. When Paul has his holiday’s during the season, a list of television and radio celebrities host the show.

Charice Pempengco, whose nickname is “Charice” became famous in the Philippines when she joined the Little Big Star singing competition when she was only 12. Although she landed only on the 3rd place, Pempengco became an overnight celebrity when her video clip of her performance of Whitney Houston’s I Will Always Love You” was posted in YouTube.

Another video of her singing a duet with America’s Got Talent winner, Bianca Ryan, impressed Ten Songs Productions, a production company in Sweden. Pempengco then traveled to Stockholm in June 2007 and recorded seven songs but there is still no word on when the album will be released.

Before her trip to the United States for Ellen Degeneres Show, Charice Pempengco was also invited to South Korea by Seoul Broadcasting System in October 2007 where she performed in the talent show, Star King. As usual, the audiences were floored by her performance of “And I Am Telling You I’m Not Going.” She also sang the Alladin song, “A Whole New World,” with Korean singer Cho Kyu Hyun of Super Junior. This video was also posted on YouTube.

Pempengco did not escape the attention of Martin Nievera who invited her as well to sing in one of his concerts on December 2007 where they sang a duet, “The Prayer,” and then did a solo, “One Moment in Time.”

After her Ellen DeGeneres show, Pempengco flew back to Korea to tape a performance for Star King again this time singing “I Will Survive” and a duet with popular Korean singer Lena Park. They sang “I Will Always Love You.” The segment was aired by Seoul Broadcasting System last December 29. Charice Pempengco’s next tv show guesting will be at the The Paul O’Grady Show in London and Oprah Show this coming May 12. Watch out for Charice Videos.
